Reporting to the Group General Manager for Business Assurance and Risk this key role will contribute to the BA&IA (Business Assurance & Internal Audit) team in delivering audit and risk management projects across eh Transport and Logistics area for the business.

This key role fits with the groups mandate to provide an independent, innovative, responsive, and value added review and audit service focused on improving the Group’s operations.  Their core objectives are to independently review and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of business risk management, business processes, and internal controls surrounding a wide range of operational and compliance business processes and functions.  This includes assessing compliance with company policies and procedures and sharing good business and control practices across businesses.


The main focus of the position for the first 12-18 months will be mainly to conduct audits of Road Transport Compliance risk areas covering a range of safety and road transport compliance obligations, including Chain of Responsibility elements.  Over time this role may have the opportunity to contribute to and support a range of Group Health, Safety and Environment initiatives, including the Divisions Road Transport Compliance obligations across their business units.


You will participate in all aspects of conducting internal audit projects and business evaluation reviews across operational and compliance business activities; from planning/scoping, to preparing audit reports. You will be required to deliver audit reviews in accordance with the Group programs, as well as respond quickly to special reviews and management requests.  As part of delivering Road Transport related audits in the first 12 months, you will work with Business Unit Operational Managers and take the lead responsibility for audit projects.


You will be high in integrity, ethics, responsibility and have a strong dedication and be customer focused.  As a dynamic, self-driven and well organized person you will be able to work independently or as part of a team willing to roll up your sleeves and be a proactive self-starter with an enquiring mind.


Your keen sense and desire to develop new skills, and have a sense of urgency with an ability to understand and logically analyse operational risk and compliance functions, business processes and business problems will be well regarded.


The position require the person to have a strong technical competence in road transport compliance, Chain of Responsibility as well as health and safety.  You will hold Tertiary/professional qualifications with proven experience in auditing techniques as well as experience in road transport or similar operational environment is an advantage.  You may hold  be RABQSA/Exemplar Global Accreditation or equivalent and be experience in a progressive HSE or road transport compliance/operations.
